Coverage of "SKIN" Project
I thought that the media coverage Shelley
Jackson's "Skin" project, while limited, has been quite positive.
Canada's The Globe and Mail published a paragraph on the project in
their "social studies" section, and the project has been mentioned in
a variety of publications. It seems that mainstream North America, or
at least the "artistic" people that may have once seen tattooing as a
dirty habit of sailors are looking at this project as a valid work of
art. Hopefully, by extension, they'll recognize tattoos as valid
pieces of art also.

I have come to the conclusion that media coverage "from the outside" will never be particularly accurate. Sometimes it's "friendly" at least, but when it comes down to it, *they just don't get it*. I hope that this will change one day, but I expect it will be at least a decade of waiting -- by which point the mainstream will be so bored of the topic that it'll get little to no media coverage anyway.

Zits Comic Strip
I work weird
hours, and don’t get to watch a lot of television,
so I miss most of the mod segments a lot of shows do.
However, this comic appears in over 1,100 newspapers
across the country so it gets a lot of exposure. Anyway,
there is a character named Pierce who, obviously, is
pierced. He has his septum, lobes, tongue, and maybe some
others. Rather a strange find in small town newspapers,
but the character is not negative, and actually makes for
some of the funniest strips.
